Obama's stance on same-sex marriage got a few of us friends thinking-our generation might consider this newsworthy, but the next and the ones after them are going to take the whole same-sex partnership thing for granted, and the question of why they don't have equal rights will become moot.
At the enormous cost of disappointing Richard Lowry, who smugly seems to think there are some things that, despite all efforts, die away at some point, this one will go through.Selective memory does not serve everyone well you know. The civil rights movement, women's sufferage.....the list is pretty long.Obviously there are going to be people on the other side who will try to derail things, but perseverance is a common characteristic-not exclusive to anyone.
I know of just one person who,I,think,is gay for sure.My son's hairstylist-sounds cliched, but the guy is very good at his job-he is also sweet and patient and very encouraging of my son-he asks him about his school days, pooh poohs the bad things away, and shows himself amazed at his academic skills...and in general is exactly the kind of person you keep in mind when you are thinking of equal rights for all.
So Jeremy, the President of the United Staes is on your side!!!Hooray!!!
