The day the mpg of a car is the one thing you can flaunt and have people go,"ooooh!!"-salvation.
The economy is so bad, people can't afford food but the universal theme when it comes to cars is the style, the luxury, the look and as an afterthought-the mileage.I don't find anything amazing about a 36mpg car-when there is a 50 mpg car on the road.So stop advertising mileage below 45mpg-you are so not AVIS-being second(or third,or fourth) in mileage does not deserve to be mentioned in ads.
Yeah,I know the prius is not cheap, but sometimes, look beyond the obvious-maybe it will take you years to recoup the higher cost with savings on gas,but the very fact that you, in your own small way contributed your mite to save the earth-priceless!!
My son keeps asking me if we are poor and is that why we have a Mazda MPV and not a BMW.And I tell him,no,we have a Prius because we care about the earth and an MPV because, that was what we could afford back then and no, we will not buy a CRV anytime soon-unless the mpg is anything close to the Prius.
I know this is almost like namedropping -I sort of, kind of, imply I am superior because I have a Prius and you don't.
But,is it fair to expect people on the same income/educational/awareness level as you are,to see things the way you do and hence do things the way you do?Not so sure. After all everyone is free to choose whatever they do with their lives and I think expecting people to adhere to your ideals is not a good idea-I think it is called being dictatorial?
But still....wouldn't it be nice if people are willing to give up their self indulgences once in a while and think of the greater good?I am pontificating aren't I?
