Scouts honor

Recieved an email from some super conservative group about the BSA voting on having homosexual scout leaders and how we need to stop such a thing and how family values are being mangled...you know how it goes..
My boy scout was sitting next to me, and I asked him what he thought, and he came up with the absolute best answer anyone could possibly think up," Why is this a big deal? As long as he does his work properly,I don't care!" This is a kid who is 14 and in my opinion not worth asking questions which require a thoughtful answer,because,like I said, he is fourteen....
He has been in the BSA for seven years now and is working towards his Eagle Scout rank and has seen his fair share of troop leaders and scout leaders at the various camps and such that he has attended over the years and I think, with the passing years, our social landscape has changed so much as regards homesexuality that kids his age barely pay attention to one's sexual orientation ,and being gay isn't raising their eyebrows at all.
So when some sanctimonious group wants to keep the status quo because they think God likes it that way, maybe they should let the actual Scouts who will be affected by this decision to have a say in this rather than rumbling on and on.
Also said santimoniuos groups did not show this kind of ferocity when the clergy scandal erupted.....makes you wonder why..... There was no huge outcry to defrock the pedophile priests....heck, they are tightlipped with the even more recent Duggar mess that is going on.....selective eh?
Was talking to my sister yesterday and she mentioned how a priest at church mentioned how Catholic kids do not know scriptures as much as Protestant kids do and that it was a shame....but then she said,"We need to know just one verse from the entire Bible, the one which asks us to love our neighbour as we love ourselves,and we are good to go." How very true.....
Even assuming that the homosexual lifestyle is deviant, how about the supposedly straight people?There is so much wrong with society as a whole that when the majority turns on the minority just because they have strength in numbers, it is not just wrong, it is hypocritical...
So,all you Scouts.....start a chain mail about how you want all these people to back off so you guys can decide things by yourself....
