Just read a article on Yahoo news-kids who swam were found to be smarter!The earlier they started,the better the results-this is a study out of Australia.
I wonder,what about smart kids in a developing country with no access to swim lessons-doomed huh?
Well,I have a better idea-focus on the curriculum-see if it works well,makes the kids practice their academic skills and get their foundation right,stop cutting the school budget,stop the wars and put the money into schools,get parents involved in their children's academics,set higher standards and expectations for the kids-and sit back and see how well they do.
I look around at all the Intel engineers from places other than the US and especially from back in India and go,how many of them swam when they were kids?See where they are now?As much as swimming hones skills which can be applied in the pool and in school,ultimately the effort you are willing to put in is what matters.
Statistics can be twisted to come up with any conclusion you want it to come up with-vary the sample size,vary the sample quality and bingo-a totally different result-so skewed it can turn the original conclusion on its head.
Notice-all that swimming DID NOT help Dory!!
