Breaking news!!

Yesterday's breaking news on Yahoo shook me up seriously-The Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant!!!
Think about it!
The diapers to be bought,the house to be cleaned,the crib,the clothes,the nanny,the wet nurse,the stroller,the car seat......wait a minute-I don't have to do all that do I?
No,seriously,are we that starved for interesting things in life,that this young lady becoming pregnant becomes breaking news?It is exciting news for sure-but more for her family than the rest of the world  wouldn't you think?
I must confess I woke up at 3.00 in the morning to watch the wedding.But that was more because Diana died a few days before I got married(September 14th 1997-my wedding, that is!!),and so for some reason, I have this sympathetic interest in the kids she left behind.I know, I know-seems a pretty flimsy excuse for getting up at three in the morning.In my defense I went to our neighbour's house at three in the evening to watch Charles marry Diana when I was 8years old.Life comes full circle eh?I am sure everyone has their reasons for their interest in British Royalty.
It is not the fact that her pregnancy became news that gets me-it is the fact that it became breaking news!!
There used to be a point in time when the term 'breaking news' was reserved for news that was significant enough to affect a considerable number of people and was ongoing-enough details weren't available and updates were needed.
Wikipedia defines breaking news as:breaking news, also known as a special report or news bulletin, is a current event that broadcasters feel warrants the interruption of scheduled programming and/or current news in order to report its details.

I wonder happens when she gives birth!!Poor Kate.I am sure the next few months are going to be difficult.Her every move is going to be tracked and written and rewritten about.Guessing the baby's gender is going to take on its own life,and maybe bookies will have a field day with that.I don't think she can even shop for the baby in peace.
And the small bundle of joy is in for a treat!!
If people like Snooki are in a position to give the Duchess of Cambridge advice-she has a tough time coming,and I don't just mean with the child-rearing!!
