Here goes-you have friends and then you have friends!!!
I sent a link to my blog to a very close friend of mine-someone I literally grew up with.We went to school together-12 years in the same classroom and two more in different ones, but we met up for lunch everyday, shared our lunch, our life stories, our books, our secrets, our successes ,our failures, our joys and sorrows ,our opinions, our crazy likes and dislikes and in short-it was like having a sister at school-but someone you did not fight with as you did with the one at home!!
College separated us,but we manage to keep in touch.I went to work in a different city and we still managed to keep in touch. She was at my wedding and she got married soon after and we did manage to meet up twice in the US.I remember how the two of us went through all the songs we used to have in our school calendar at one go when we were in the car one day.Our School song, followed by a string of christian hymns-not exactly what you would want to listen to in a car right?I am sure our husbands wanted to jump off at the first opportunity, but hey till death do us part remember? They did!!
She is in India right now -a huge step moving back. She was a high flying corporate lawyer in New York state, but gave it up and moved home because her husband's job required them to make a move to India.
I have shared a link to my blog with quite a few friends and acquaintances, but she was the first one to ask me if there was a way to get an automatic notification via email every time I make a new post on my blog!!I think it is partly the lawyer in her and partly,I hope, the contents of my blog-interesting enough, that it warrants a second look?!!
I told my husband this and he defended himself saying,"But I do read it now and then!"-NOW AND THEN?How about everyday mister?I make breakfast, lunch and dinner EVERYDAY!! Not now and then,do I?
Anyway,I digress-the point is- the fact that she asked about an automatic notification is more a testament to her superior intellect and the tie of friendship that binds us, than anything else.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, brings me to a critical juncture in my blogging history-now that I have a confirmed albeit willing audience of one,I will have to blog more often-because now, this becomes a thread that connects us.I know, that a few thousand miles away,is a friend who will read anything I post and hopefully give me constructive criticism and help me become a more polished writer. She knows me enough to be aware of my capabilities and shortcomings-she can be frank and open in her suggestions and I will welcome her insight. So Vaigai-comment away!!!
