Chicken wings!!After watching out for the fat and the generally accepted theory that they are unhealthy-the splurge was awesome!!
Planning on making it a regular weekly menu item!!
Used cream cheese and sour cream with spices for a dip-but planning on experimenting a bit .
Anyway,I noticed that I have very few sugar cravings -we went to Portland to attend my older kid's Scout recognition ceremony -a grand Mass at St.Mary's Cathedral where he recieved his Parvuli Dei medal from the Bishop Rev.Vlazny.When we left,we were thinking of a bakery to step into-but skipped it considering the fact the bakeries wouldn't work for the two of us.I did not seem to regret the decision!!
Interesting thing happened at the Mass. When the Bishop presented him with his Medal,it looked like he asked my son something and he answered(correctly it seemed!!),got a pat on his arms from the bishop and then walked away.
We asked him later what that was all about and he said, the Bishop asked him if he knew what his name meant!!When he came up with the meaning,he was congratulated and patted on the arms-well,when you are confirmed,my Mom used to say the Bishop pats(slaps?!) you on the cheek-this was much better.BTW my son's name is Emmanuel.
Inspite of reading books like God Is Not Great and Render unto Rome, one's ingrained values and habits die hard!!
I was thrilled and called people back home to let them know what had happened!!
Funnily my son didn't seem like he understood the significance -I had to explain to him that getting close to the Bishop is in itself a big deal, and to have a personal conversation, however short, even more so!!God is with us I guess is the way to put it!!
