Had been to San Jose to see a relative off to India.we actually drove down on I5.Was fun,and my husband and me shared driving duties.Stayed over at Ashland, OR.Was it fun or what!
we stayed at the Ashland Springs-supposed to be on the national registry of historic hotels or something-it was good. The rooms were small-especially if you have a couple of rambunctious kids.I made sure at the front desk that there was no one in the room below us-else we would have gotten a call to pipe down for sure.
Had dinner at Agave-read rave reviews about the place and it did live up to them. The tacos were so good-and they weren't smothered in sour cream or cheese-rather,they had fresh green cabbage as garnish-it actually worked pretty well.
Also tried Dragonfly-fusion cuisine .I tried the Brazilian rice with pork-was more latin than asian-it was supposed to be I guess. The plantains reminded me of Kerala cooking with yetham pazham. It was just sauted in oil,but was still good.Should make panee one of these days.
easy,
yetham pazham panee:
slice up a coupleof plantains, add half a can of coconut milk to 2-3cups of water, bring to a boil, add the plantains and cook a few minutes till done. You can add a crushed cardamom for the taste.Thicken with rice flour and water made into a paste.
Add more coconut milk to taste.
Serve with sugar.
